Parent Spotlight - Simon Lee

Q: Regarding the piano, what are you most proud of your children accomplishing?
A: That he can learn songs quickly and loves to embellish and improvise on some of his favorite songs.
Q: What advice would you give a new parent starting in the program?
A: Be patient with your child and make the homework like a game. For example we have flashcards with musical notes and we do matching games or a sorting game from high to low notes. After doing the daily music homework give some time for your child to just play any songs on the piano that they want.
Q: Why did you decide to give your child a musical upbringing?
A: He showed interest in the piano very early on and quickly surpassed our musical knowledge and it was clear that Kayden needed a teacher. While we had planned to have Kayden start learning an instrument around 6; we started him early because of his strong interest on the piano and unique musical gifts that surprised us. We decided to nurture his gifts but still keep it fun for him at CCM.
